Byrdcliffe is a historic residency of the arts and crafts movement of the early 20th cent. It is situated in the town of Woodstock, site of the mythical concert of the 1970s and still imbued with the folklore of that 'happening'. The residency includes all of the arts, as well as a section devoted to ceramics, directed by the potter Rich Conti. It is a relaxed place where the residents share cabins in the woods. In the studios, it is possible to work and develop one's own ideas. On the week-ends, in the 'Barn', now a meeting place, there are fabulous concerts offered by the extensive community of musicians traditionally based in the area. 

In two months of residence, I produced 9 sculptures, even with the loss of one statue due to the vibration of the studio's wooden floor. The final firing was done as the Hurricane Irene was about to hit the area, so we rushed to finish before the storm cut the electricity to the kiln ventilators.
